Dance Improvisation Workshop
Dance improvisation is a complete and full world of communication, awareness and exploration of the body, your creativity in dance and the way we communicate non verbally. It allows us to go into the body, talk and express ourselves and find new ways to relate to other people, to our inner wishes and also to time, space and movement around us.
In its highest level, Dance Improvisation is a delicate art, a meditation, a joy and a beautiful way to explore your true self and share it with other people. It can be enjoyed by anyone who wish to find the “dancer” within.
Improvisation is the way we learn about the world. Before we had patterns of movement and behavior we were playing with all possibilities and finding our own way in the world.
In dance improvisation we try to keep our sensitivity open to new experience and not to be locked in our usual movement and patterns. We try to break patterns of behavior and expand beyond them.
Dance Improvisation is a wonderful way to make your consciousness bigger to the surrounding and to grow your understanding of your own body and mind. Improvisation in it its highest form is pure awareness – to dance, to your own self, to others and to everything that is happening.
For anyone who works with the body and mind, either a dancer an improviser, a bodywork therapist, or psychotherapist, Dance improvisation will allow you to get a valuable tool to understand your body and the body and mind of your partner.
In this workshop we will enter, play, learn some of the elements from the world of dance improvisation. We will learn to talk to each other without words, but only with movement. we will learn to agree, to disagree and to find new ways of looking at dance as a way of communication and true listening to each other. We will learn to trust ourselves and our partners, and see how we break our old patterns inside the body, and discovering new things about ourselves.
To try and describe Dance improvisation in words, is like trying to teach swimming without jumping into the water, or like trying to describe love with words alone.
You need to feel it in the body in order to understand it.

Biosynthesis, as a somatic psychotherapy, focuses intensively at the human body.
Traumatic experiences form an armor not just emotional but also physical, that restricts gradualy the body movement and expression. The release of the chronic, restrictive tensions, is a major aspect of the biosynthetic proccess. For that there are specific movements and contact that lead to the realization and release of these tensions.
Having that in mind, the Greek Center for Biosynthesis scheduled a dance improvisation workshop. The participants will have the oportunity to come into deeper connection with their bodies, realize the usual patterns that restrict the movement and nonverbal expression and see how the emotional state reflects on their bodies. Then, dance improvisation will teach us to move freely and contact others with our whole self, even without words.
The workshop will take place at Kechries, Corinth, Greece, 23 - 25 March 2012, under Tom Goldhand's conduction. We start on Friday, March 23, 19:00 ending on Sunday, March 25, 17:00.
Anyone who will book till Monday, Jan 16, 2012 will have a discount. The first 12 participants will also have free accomodation at Lily's ranch at Kechries where the workshop will take place. For more info contact us at +302106836485 or biosynth@hol.gr
